This very fine antique box is incredibly stout and robust, made from solid walnut and crafted in 1737 and likely served a civil, guild, or personal storage chest for important documents, located in Simmern: a historic Medieval town in the Rhineland Palatinate region of Germany. The lift up hinged lid having stepped top with 'fish scale' carving
